Everything in the Kin-mura Yaka village was knocked down by US military bulldozers, and the largest Yaka prisoner of war camp in Okinawa was established. Prisoners of war from Okinawa made the Kankara Sanshin (Three-string guitar) with all kinds of materials, and “Yaka Bushi,” which thought of the sorrow of war and their hometown, was born.
In order to connect “Yaka Bushi,” which has been sung in this way, to the next generation, a “Yaka Festival” is held where the original Ryukyu song is placed on the melody of “Yaka Bushi” and sung. Applications for contestants will be accepted until 6/30 (Monday).
