~ Okinawa, Amami, and Taiwan to travel to islands with songs ~

“Brand-New Trad (Brand New Trad)” will be held by artists from Okinawa, Amami, and Taiwan, which sends a new wind to traditional music. Traditional music that remains around the world is being updated daily as world music while repeating new musical elements and heterogeneous hybridization. In this performance, 3 groups of artists will literally perform the newest forms of traditional music.

Last year, “Folk Song Crusaders,” which test a mix of Latin music centered on Japanese folk songs and Latin music, the alternative shamisen rock band “The Shamisenists,” and “THE SAKISHIMA Meeting (ARA Yukito x Isamu Shimoji),” which is rooted in the land called Okinawa and has received high praise around the world, competed.

The performers this time are UEMA Ayano (Okinawa), Leaf Yeh (Taiwan), SATO Anna, and Toshiyuki Sasaki (Amami). While touring the islands through colorful music, you can expect the possibilities of new songs to expand through musical exchanges.
