The “Okinawa Sanshin (Three-string guitar) Cultural Succession Project,” in which the Okinawa Prefecture Sanshin (Three-string guitar) Production Business Cooperative Association, Okinawa Prefectural University of Art, the Ryukyu University, the Okinawa Prefectural Museum and Art Museum, and Yamaha participate, aims to solve social issues related to Sanshin (Three-string guitar) and its culture, such as material depletion and lack of successors, by scientifically researching Sanshin (Three-string guitar) materials, craftsmanship, sounds, expressions, etc. This time, a lecture concert will be held with an introduction to the joint research and expert explanations with performances by the performers who will lead the next generation. A research panel exhibition will also be held.

Part 1: Lectures
I will introduce the background of the beginning of the project, awareness of issues related to tradition succession, the roles of each, and joint research efforts so far.

Part 2: Explanation and demonstration by experts
Listen to songs representative of the region while focusing on the tone, tone, and differences in the sanshin used.

Okinawan folk music: “Samurai without Abandoned Domain,” “Nostalgic Hometown,” “Hiyakamichi Bushi,” and “Nakuni to Yamahara Bingan...”
