Kiyomura Tsutomu was assigned to Nago as a construction engineer at Kunigami-gun Hall in 1920 (Taisho 9). He was the first person to incorporate reinforced concrete technology into Okinawa, which had not yet been sufficiently established even in the Japanese construction industry. The old Ogimi village office building, which was designated as an important cultural property of the country in 2016 (Heisei 28), is a masterpiece of Kiyomura, and is said to be the oldest reinforced concrete building remaining in the prefecture, and celebrated its 100th anniversary this year. Buma Gongendo and Gosaki Imperial Palace, which are pre-war reinforced concrete buildings that currently exist in Nago City, were also designed by Kiyomura. In this special exhibition, we will introduce buildings created by Kiyomura with photographs, etc., and look back on his achievements.
