●Screening Program

“Katsu-chan - Okinawa after the war”
2024/Mori no Film Company/Films directed by Yukihisa Fujimoto and Asako Kageyama/98 min.
Katsu-chan, Yamashiro Yoshikatsu, is an active fisherman in Okinawa who was born in October 1944. He also survived the burnt field after the war with the battle result Agia, and became a fisherman after becoming a master yakuza. The post-war history of the common people of Okinawa emerges from Katsu-chan's half-life, which has experienced various events that occurred under American occupation, such as the Yumiko-chan incident, the Miyamori Elementary School US military plane crash, and the Koza Riot. This film was screened for the first time in Kyoto.

“Soldiers on the Battlefield”
2025/Films directed by Yukihisa Fujimoto and Asako Kageyama/119 minutes
Former Japanese soldier Kondo Hajime, who experienced the two battlefields of China and Okinawa, Allen Nelson, a former Marine who participated in the Vietnam War, and Jeff Patterson, the first active soldier and former Marine who refused to be dispatched to Iraq during the Gulf War. The pre-built Self-Defense Forces, which are “not an army,” are also regular forces under international law. There are clues to the future in their experiences.

“Don't turn the Ryukyu Arc into a battlefield” 2024/55 minutes
“Don't turn the Ryukyu Arc into a battlefield 2025” 2025/35 minutes
The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force radar base was built on Yonaguni Island in 2016. Missile bases were built on Miyako Island and Amami Oshima Island in '19, and on Ishigaki Island in '23. In 2024, a new Rikuji missile force was also deployed on Okinawa Island. Joint training between Japan and the US continues uninterrupted, and even in Hokkaido Prefecture, the US military is using Hymers to conduct live ammunition exercises. If America goes to war against China, the Japanese archipelago becomes a battlefield, and the Ryukyu Arc is at the forefront. The work conveys the reality of the Ryukyu Arc that major media cannot convey.
