“NDU (Japan Documentalists Union)” is a film group looking at violence caused by modern Japanese colonialism. A documentary documenting people in East Asia, such as coal miners on Iriomote Island, Koreans who lived during the Japanese colonial period, and Taiwanese who were left without being able to return home after the war.

“Motoshinkakaranu” means “business that does not require principal” in Okinawan language, that is, prostitutes, yakuza, thieves, etc. A documentary about NDU members who smuggled into Okinawa under US military occupation and recorded such people.

“When the Theater Ends” 2024
Okinawa's oldest wooden movie theater “Shuri Gekijo (Movie Theater),” which was built in 1950, was dismantled in 2022 due to the sudden death of the director. A documentary that follows the days that photographer Ishikawa Masao took photographs of the final scenes.
