Peter Evans
He is a trumpet player, improviser, and composer who has been based in New York since 2003. It is located in an experimental music scene where various genres of music are hybridized, and works that cross over a wide range of modern musical techniques and traditions have been created. While actively incorporating the self-determined nature of improvisational music, which can be said to be collaborative at the same time, as a tool for composition, they are putting effort into creating new music together with other musicians and composers, and their connections and spread are getting bigger and bigger. Currently, the main groups he is the leader of are Peter Evans Ensemble and Being & Becoming. In addition, Peter has been performing live trumpet performances and sound source releases as a solo player since 2002. He is widely recognized as an excellent artist in the field of improvisation, and has presented multiple sound sources over the past 10 years. Peter is a member of Pulverize the Sound (along with Mike Pride and Tim Dahl) and a member of Rocket Science (along with Evan Parker, Craig Taybone, and Sam Pluta). While repeating experiments with like-minded musicians, they are constantly forming new groups. As a composer, he has received commissions from the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), Jahn/Wyer, the Donaueschingen Music Festival, the Jerome Foundation Emerging Artist Program, and the Doris Duke Foundation. Also, while performing at major festivals around the world, he leads his own group and tours in various regions. The main musicians Evans has performed with so far are John Zone, Peter Brotzman, Jim Black, Weasel Walter, Matana Roberts, Ty Shawn Sorley, Levi Lorenzo, Nate Woolley, Steven Schick, Mary Halvorson, Joe McPhee, and members of ICE and Wet Ink ensembles. Since 2011, he has released records from his own label, More Is More. In 2016, they released their solo album “Lifeblood” and Peter Evans Quintet's third and final album “Genesis,” which received high praise. More Is More is More is scheduled to announce 5 new albums in 2018.
