The “Nakagusuku Hanta Road” is a historic road from Minamiuehara in Nakagusuku Village to the ruins of Nakagusuku Castle. Since it passes along a cliff, it is called the “Hanta (cliff) road.” It was built in the latter half of the 12th century as a road connecting villages, and developed over the 15th century as a Gusuku road from Shuri to Katsuren. Since there are many cultural properties around “Nakagusuku Hanta Road,” it became a nationally designated historic site in 2015.
