Koji Tagi led criticism of modern society and expression in rapidly changing post-war Japan. In 1968, Tagi founded the magazine “Provoke (Proroke)” for photographic expression together with Takuma Nakahira and others. After that, Tagi developed a variety of critical activities targeting not only photography, but also architecture, video, space, contemporary art, sports, etc., and looked at the depth of the humanities, and had a great influence on contemporary Japanese artists. After Tagi passed away in 2011, “Provoke” and “The Historical Philosophy of Video” (Misuzu Shobō) were published, and there are movements to rediscuss Taki while commemorating Taki's work, which has not been discussed much until now, and Mikael Lücken is searching for the roots of “Provoke” and Tagi's criticism through examining Taki's works as a photographer that has not been discussed much until now. “Gaze” or “gaze” continues to be the central question of the generation of thought in modern Okinawa. This time, we will surround Mr. Ryuken and talk about Tagi's criticism and the intellectual history of Okinawa.
