The coast of “Mabunhito,” where the Battle of Okinawa ended, is a sea cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. There are many rock grooves and rock holes scattered under the steep cliff 60 meters above sea level. Japanese soldiers, student soldiers, and refugees cornered by the US military hid themselves, but many casualties occurred before the US military's clean-up campaign. The Okinawa Prefectural Peace Memorial Museum Friends Association explores deep in the hills, sets up fieldwork routes, and follows battle sites hidden in the hills. Also, look at the rock mass that collapsed after being exposed to heavy bombardment from the reef at low tide and search for traces of the Battle of Okinawa.
