The stage “Cave (Gama),” which was performed at Himeyuri Peace Hall in June, will be streamed online.
It depicts a human drama that takes place in extreme conditions facing life and death, set in a southern bunker (gama) where residents and soldiers were confined at the end of the Battle of Okinawa.
Comment by Yoshishi Shimazu (screenplay)
“In the Battle of Okinawa, 1 in 4 people were killed by the Iron Storm. There have been many works in the past that have focused on the tragedy of 1 in 4 people, but I wanted to focus on dramas about the survival of the other 3 people. Caves were truly a dead end to this world, and they were an extreme living hell, but on the other hand, they were also shelters of life containing energy for life regeneration.”
