The “Brecht x Okinawan play New Work Project” is based on “The Good Man of Zetchuan” (1940) by German playwright and director Berthold Brecht, created as a new work of “Okinawan play” with screenplay/direction by Ryukyu entertainment performer and director Michihiko Kakazu, and aims to perform it at the big theater in 2025.
This year, as part of the script creation process, Arai Akihito (presiding over and directing the theater company Beach Rock) will compose the performance script from the new translation of “Zechuan's Good Man,” and actors leading the Okinawan contemporary drama world will hold a leading (performed with a script) trial.

“Zechuan's Good Man” synopsis
It was Shen Tae, a poor prostitute, who lent an inn to the three gods searching for good people. As a reward for her good act, God gave her a large sum of money, and she started a business. However, people who knew about it came to borrow money and stayed. Unable to stop being a “good person,” she becomes her cousin Shui Ta and drives them away with a tough attitude...
