Set in a small village in Okinawa during the Ryukyu Dynasty, this Okinawan version of the musical spells out the love story of a young man and woman living there with music and dance along with the lives of the people surrounding them. On the stage, various cultures unique to Okinawa, such as Yuimaru (collaborative work), niebichi (marriage), and the Honensai (Harvest festival), are performed vividly with flowing, energetic dance based on Ryukyu dance and live music by Sanshin (Three-string guitar), Shima Taiko, and violin. Since its premiere in 2013, it is a long-running popular work that has received high praise not only at domestic but also overseas theater festivals, and the colorful beauty unique to Okinawa has been utilized in costumes and stage design. It's a nonverbal work that doesn't use dialogue, so you can enjoy it regardless of age or nationality.
