Lectures related to the 32nd Army Command Center Bunker Model Exhibition to be held at the Motobu Town Museum from 9/2 (Sat) to 29 (Fri).
Okinawa had its only domestic ground battle in 1945. The lecturer, who was a 10-year-old boy at the time, talks about what he saw in the process of running away from his hometown Izumi, Motobu-cho, aiming for Mt. Tano with his family, his feelings for “the foundation of peace” after the war, and why the 32nd Army headquarters bunker in the basement of Shuri Castle was not open to the public.
