Attitudes about “places to work” and “places to live” have been greatly affected and changed due to changes in the social environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, such as work style reforms and promotion of work from home. In Reiwa 3, while there are prefectures where excessive transfer in is on an expanding trend, 37 prefectures have moved out too much, and many municipalities have fallen into excess move-out. Also, progress in rural depopulation continues, such as there are “depopulated areas” target areas over 50%, and efforts to support migration by local governments are being actively carried out. In this lecture, based on prior research on the types and characteristics of immigrants, Hokkaido Prefecture Mombetsu City (Reiwa 3 hometown tax payment amount ranked 1 in Japan) and Miyakojima City (Reiwa 3 hometown tax payment amount ranked 1 in Okinawa prefecture), which are putting effort into migration support, are given examples, and we will analyze and examine attitudes about migration.
