Ryukyu dance “Maki no Kai” is a recital by dancer Shida Maki, who disseminates Ryukyu dance to the world based in Tokyo and Okinawa. “Maki no Kai” has been held since Maki Shida won the 2015 Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival Grand Prize. In addition to facing classical works handed down from the Ryukyu dynasty period, we will deliver works that seek tomorrow for Ryukyu dance.

●Profile of Maki Shida
She was born in Tokyo as the second daughter of Fusako SHIDA (holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property and Living National Treasure), the head family of the Juodori school of Ryukyu dance. Since childhood, he studied under his mother and accumulated studies. In 2007, he succeeded to the name of the second head family of the Ryukyu dance heavy dance school. Starting with holding his own recital “Maki no Kai,” in addition to appearing in performances sponsored by the National Theatre, he also conducts dance guidance for the NHK TV series novel “Chimudon”, and dissemination education activities at university institutions. In addition to striving for a stage that respects antiquity unique to Ryukyu dance inherited from the dynasty period, it continues to explore and express beauty every day with an eye on the artistic value of Ryukyu dance. 2005 Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival Award Newcomer Award. 2009 Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival Award Excellence Award. 2015 Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival Award Grand Prize. Appointed as the Agency for Cultural Affairs Cultural Exchange Envoy in 2020.
