Yoshitaro Kamakura, a native of Kagawa Kagawa Prefecture, conducted an art survey of Okinawa from Taisho 10 to Showa 12, and collected many historically and artistically important materials, including drawings of Shuri Castle. Some of them are designated as important cultural properties of the country as important materials to know Okinawa before the war.
The special exhibition in March will focus on materials related to Shuri Castle left by Yoshitaro Kamakura, and textiles, and ceramics, and introduce a wide range of artistic research by Yoshitaro Kamakura. Also, after the 3/4 “Sanshin Day”, we also introduce Sanshin (Three-string guitar) and Kokushi-4 that are owned by the museum.
