Profile
Born in Katsuren Heshikiya, Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture. I became interested in music from an early age, picked up a flute after entering junior high school, aspired to become a music path, and learned classical music professionally at the Prefectural Kaiho High School Art Department Music Course.
He began performing jazz in Tokyo in 2004 and studied jazz flute under Shinpei Inoue. Live activities will also begin in 2007 in my hometown of Okinawa. In addition to jazz arrangements of Okinawan folk music, original songs with Okinawan motifs express a unique view of the world. Also, they actively visited schools on remote islands in the prefecture as volunteers to perform and teach, and the CD “aka is.funky” produced together with Aka Elementary and Junior High School and students was released in 2011/7.
Currently based in Okinawa, they are also developing performance activities outside of the prefecture. “Akabana no Uta” in 2012, “LEQUIO HISTORIA” in 2015, and “LEQUIO HISTORIA II” in 2023 were released as albums centered around jazz arrangements of Okinawan folk music.
