Profile

Born in the former city of Gushikawa and raised in Yaka, Kin Town. Influenced by her grandfather and father who were members of the Okinawa City Sonoda Local youth club, she grew up being exposed to Eisa folk dance and Uta Sanshin (Three-string guitar). From the age of 19, he studied under Kiyuna Asawa, whose mentor is Moriei Kohama. He admires major figures in the Okinawan folk music world, such as Kohama Moriei, Kadekaru Rinsho, and China Sadao, and has experienced various stages, starting with Eisa folk dance Jihyo at the Sonoda Seinen Kai. Currently, he is studying Okinawan folk music under Sadao Kina (second Jogenkai teacher) and Ryukyu classical music under Yonaha Toru (belonging to the Nomura-ryu Music Association). The 1st album “1” was released in 2023/12.
