Profile

Current members of the instrumental group “Sly Mongoose,” which has strong fans both domestically and internationally due to their unique musicality. Entered Berklee College of Music (Boston) as a scholarship student in 1988. After working as an assistant to Terence Blanchard (five-time Grammy Award-winning jazz trumpet player and film music composer), she made her major debut with “Wild Flower” in 1996. Also, as a guest soloist, she has performed with domestic and international artists, and while using jazz as a base, she conveys a unique worldview that is not bound by genre both domestically and internationally.

In 2013, he moved to Yaeyama because he wanted to keep himself in his own roots and deepen his musical activities. In 2014/8, they co-performed with Mr. Tetsuhiro the carpenter, a leading expert in Yaeyama folk music, at the “Taiwan Design Expo 2014” (held in Taitung, Taiwan), and performed at the 2014/11 Ishigaki Island Festival and 2015/2 Ishigaki Island New Year Fireworks Festival, aiming to develop new musicality rooted in their roots.

Outside of artist activities, she produced the album “Baroque” (Universal Music) by jazz pianist Junko Onishi in 2010. At the time of the world jazz event “3rd International Jazz Day” hosted by UNESCO in 2014, he was involved in the production of the music education program “MUSIC EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM” as the “Osaka International Music Festival Executive Committee” executive director.
