Profile

“Raiz de Hierba (grass root)” is a flamenco unit by guitarist Kenji Nishii and dancer Sanesue Sunaga. It is an orthodox yet unique flamenco world. There are many appearances in various media, music provided, etc. Also, collaborations with various genres are attracting attention.

Kenji Nishii (g)
Studied flamenco guitar under Shigeru Ito. Moved to Spain in '96 and '01.
After returning to Japan, while studying flamenco guitar, he taught himself jazz theory.
In addition to accompanying flamenco dances both domestically and internationally, he supported various artists and participated in music production for TV, commercials, CDs, etc.
He also participated in Latin jazz, bossa nova, samba bands, jazz guitar duos, etc.
Participated in the album and concert of Diamond Yukai from the former Red Warriors.
He played full Spanish guitar on the soundtrack of the movie “The Lion's Blood” starring Hiroki Matsukata.
Participated in the live performance of the tap dance unit “Stripes.”
The first solo album “Seeking” in 2007 (KMTS0001/distributor VoicelessViolation Distribution Dixound) was announced.
Excellent compositional sense and musicality have received high praise in various fields, including the monthly magazines “CD Journal” and “Paseo.”

Sunaga Miki (dance/per)
Began classical ballet at age 3. When I was in high school, I learned various dances such as rhythmic gymnastics, and after entering college, flamenco, jazz dance, and modern ballet.
While attending university, she studied abroad in New York for a short time and studied various dances. In 1995, he went west alone, came into contact with local flamenco, and decided to concentrate on flamenco.
After that, he went west several times to pursue his own style. In 1997, she moved to Tokyo and has carried out various activities in various places as a freelance dancer.
Currently active mainly in live shows in Okinawa. In order to expand the base of flamenco, we aim to embody living flamenco without barriers.
