Profile
Born in Naha City in 1940. He became a professional musician while studying at the University of the Ryukyus and worked as a pianist in the US military base. In 1979, he opened his own home ground jaz club “Guuwa Jazz bar” in Naha city. Since 2001, he was chairman of the Okinawa JAZZ Association and worked on the spread and development of jazz in Okinawa. In April 2010, he passed away at the age of 70 because of cancer. “Guuwa Jazz bar” is still one of Okinawa's leading jazz-spots, and a variety of jazz-musicians appear every day.
