An Shimauta (Okinawan music) unit composed of Kazunari Giho (Uta Sanshin (Three-string guitar), guitar) from Ishigaki and Megumi Aragaki (song Sanshin (Three-string guitar), taiko) from Naha. At Okinawa Prefectural University of Art, they began live activities in 2005 so that people can feel close to Okinawan music while studying classical music, which is a traditional Okinawan performing art, and have been active under the unit name “Jinjin” since 2008 so that people can feel close to Okinawan music while doing stage activities. Ishigaki's child “Kibokazuya” was born in Akashi, which is surrounded by nature. The free-spirited sensibility that grew up carefree creates original songs with rich harmonies. It was selected for the 2011 Marlboro Ignite Project, and the sound of Sanshin is echoed in NY's Blue Note. Nahako “Arakaki Megumi” wakes up to Okinawan music under her feet after traveling from Hokkaido Prefecture to Tibet on her own. Both were Grand Prix winners in Ryukyuan classical music. Depending on the live song, they perform a combination of “Sanshin (Three-string guitar)” & “taiko,” or by changing instruments to “Sanshin (Three-string guitar)” & “guitar or flute or three-board.”
