After the war, in order to save Okinawa suffering from food shortages, people in Hawaii raised funds and sent pigs to Okinawa. This event contributed greatly to the recovery of Okinawa's pig farming industry, the resolution of food shortages, and the succession of pig food culture. In Uruma City, 9/27, when pigs arrived at White Beach, is designated as “the day pigs arrived from the sea.” The connection between this history and Okinawan food culture will be introduced through panel exhibitions and special programs.
