Kawakami Takae-kun (Hoshan Gaofijun)
Born in 1966 in Baoding, Hebei, China. Chinese contemporary artist.
He graduated from Hebei Light Industry School in 1986 and graduated from the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts (now Tsinghua University School of Art) in 1992.
In 1994, he began working as one of the artists who initially immigrated to Beijing's Songzhuang Xiaobao.
In 1995, it won the Outstanding Work Award at the China Art Fair.
After that, he participated in domestic and international exhibitions such as the Paris International Art Fair.
Creation is broadly divided into three periods, and after going through the “Sensei Suikai” series from 1993 to 1999 and the “Fragile” series, which includes social allegories from 1999 to 2003, the “Sansui/Kamiyu” series, which reinterprets traditional landscape paintings in a modern way, has been developed since 2003.
He is attracting attention as an artist who opens up new possibilities for Chinese landscape painting with his unique expression using acrylic paint.
Until now, solo exhibitions have been held at the Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts Art Museum “Yunshen Shiranokoro”, Baijiahu Beijing Art Center “Gushan Distant Shadow”, and “Mountain on the River” at the Li Ke Dye Art Institute.
The work has been collected by art institutions and collectors at home and abroad, and was also exhibited at the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art in 2023.
