An event organized by “Churamura (Okinawa Coastal Conservation Doyukai),” which works to protect sea turtles and the marine environment. Learn about environmental issues while having fun at a sandy beach in Yomitan village. At the opening “Turtle Olympics,” participants challenged a “crawl race” that imitates the movements of sea turtles and experienced the activities of life. Local crafts and kitchen cars are lined up at the venue, and artists from Yomitan perform their appreciation for the ocean on the stage. Marine debris art and diver talk shows report on the current state of microplastic pollution and loss of sandy beaches faced by endangered sea turtles.
