Works created by nameless artists who have not received specialized art education, with unique perspectives and methods of expression. Each one of them vividly breaks through our preconceived notions of “art,” and brings unexpected surprise and emotion. This shock is called “simple artillery,” and it has been the name of the exhibition since the first exhibition in 2001. The strength hidden in unadorned simplicity, and the creative energy that breaks through people's hearts. This year, in line with the 25th anniversary, we are collaborating with the special exhibition “The Adventure of Making” to be held at the Okinawa Prefectural Museum and Art Museum around the same time. In “The Adventure of Making,” 45 artists representing Japanese art brut are introduced, and 3 people from Okinawa were selected from Okinawa: Hiroya Kamisato, Akihiro Karimata, and Seiya Kishaba. In this exhibition, we will introduce 19 artists who continue to create in Okinawa Prefecture, including these 3.
