The museum collection exhibition is an exhibition that mainly introduces works by artists from or related to Okinawa and contemporary art works from Asian countries. You can experience a variety of Okinawan art, such as oil paintings, watercolors, sculptures, prints, photographs, and videos, nurtured by the Okinawan climate.

●Collection Gallery 1: Screening of “Friendly Japanese People” by Toyoichi, a digital business achievement work
The origin of the feature film directed by Toyo Hajime (1934-), which depicts a young man who survived the Battle of Okinawa embarking on a journey to look back at himself (1971/118 min.). The results of digitalization and restoration aimed at long-term preservation will be screened for the first time.

●Collection Gallery 2: Asahiko Yara Exhibition “My Space: Light and Shadow”
This exhibition overlooks the changes in the works of Yara Asahiko (1953-), who has led art in the prefecture. The early “My Space Light and Shadow Series” is a work that delicately depicts everyday scenes that seem abandoned with the contrast between light and shadow. Despite being in a busy era advocating a return to the motherland, the expression full of silence, as if time had stopped, talks about Okinawa at that time as an antonym. You can enjoy the changes in the works that followed with the “Wrapping Series,” “Dripping Series,” “Mixed Media Series,” and “Metal Series.”

●Collection Gallery 3: The Flow of Okinawan Art
This exhibition traces the culture nurtured from Okinawa's unique history and climate along with the changing times. I will introduce how Okinawan art has been influenced and cultivated by the times and circumstances.
