Osaka Shion Wind Orchestra
A symphonic brass band boasting the longest history and tradition in Japan, which celebrated its 100th anniversary on 2023/6/1. Since its birth in 1923 (Taisho 12), it has been nicknamed “Shion (Shion),” and was privatized from directly managed by Osaka in 2014. The name was changed to “Osaka Shion Wind Orchestra” from the “Osaka City Music Group” in 2015/3. They are developing concerts that everyone can enjoy, from classical music to popular music, and they are putting effort into improving and developing music culture through a wide range of activities, such as concerts, brass band classes, and CD recordings in various cities. Up to now, it has received the Osaka Cultural Festival Award, the Japan Private Broadcasting Federation Award, the Japan Brass Band Academy Award in the performance category, the Osaka Art Award, the Naniwa Grand Prize, and the Critic Club Award Special Award. PR supplier for the Osaka-Kansai Expo. Currently, Miyagawa Akira is appointed as music director, Douglas Bostock as chief guest conductor, and Akiyama Kazuyoshi as honorary artistic advisor.
