“Cinema Kumi Odori” is a project to visualize “Kumiodori,” which has been handed down for about 300 years, from a new perspective. In order to convey the appeal of the traditional Okinawan performing art “Kumiodori” in an easy-to-understand manner to those who see it for the first time, “Asakaoru,” one of the works “Asakaoru No. 5” created by Tamaki Asaka, the founder of Kumidō, was visualized. Talented cast members and top-class staff who support Okinawan film production gathered, and succeeded in capturing the full appeal of group dancing in images, such as the stylistic beauty of the group dance, the delicate expressions of the actors not seen on stage, the performers' music full of urgency, and the smooth rotation of lines.

There is an explanation about the history and characteristics of the group dance before the main story, and Japanese subtitles are attached to the main story, so it's safe even for group dance beginners. The delicate expressions of the actors, which are difficult to see on the live stage, and the stylistic beauty of the stage are also carefully captured, and you can enjoy the spectacle unique to the video. The director is Takako Miyahira from Okinawa Prefecture, who won the first Japanese Grand Prix and Director's Award at the Singapore Rookie Film Festival (AFFF) for “Looking for Anne.”
