This exhibition presents the results of the research project “Shared Coasts, Divided Historiography: Mobilizing People, Ideas, and Artifacts in the East Asian Mediterranean” (2023-2025) supported by the Getty Foundation's “Connecting Art Histories Initiative” Something I'm going to introduce. This project was co-led by Gloria Yu Yang and Anton Schweizer of Kyushu University, focusing on the “East Asia Mediterranean” region connecting Kyushu, Okinawa, Taiwan, and the Korean Peninsula, and has examined its cultural and art exchanges from multiple angles. This exhibition introduces 4 contemporary artists who are deeply involved with this region: Uehara Michiko, Nema Tomoko, Taira Yuki, and Komiya Yukina. Through diverse expressions such as textiles, photographs, paintings, videos, and installations, we explore the multi-layered connections woven by individual experiences, regional memories, and history. By resonating with each other's voices, this exhibition aims to be a place of new dialogue and discovery.
