16:20 ~ 17:15 Part 4 Panel Discussion
Theme: “The trajectory of urban development and reconstruction in Shuri”
Before the war, Shuri Castle was taken over by the Kumamoto Garrison and became a military facility, then it was used as a school facility or religious facility (Okinawa Shrine) under the jurisdiction of Shuri City (ward), and the 32nd Army headquarters bunker was set up underground in the previous war. After the war, reconstruction was achieved through many transitions, with the opening of the University of the Ryukyus University in 1950, the Okinawa Prefectural University of Art in 86, and the restoration of Shuri Castle in Heisei. As reconstruction of Shuri Castle in Reiwa and surrounding development progresses, I would like to think about what kind of town the town of Shuri will be shaped into while following the trajectory of reconstruction so far.
