The Osaka-Kansai Expo will come to an end in 2025/10, but in the sense that there are many issues left over by the system called expositions that spread all over the world in the 19th century, it can also be said that the expo is not over yet. The exposition was deeply involved with capitalism, tourism, racism, colonialism, war, etc., and there was also an aspect of raising national prestige through the exhibition of industrial products. This exhibition, which consists of exhibition-related materials held by curator Masashi Ohara, focuses on aspects hidden in the image of glamorous expositions, such as the Anthropological Museum, which was controversial at the 5th National Industrial Exposition held in Osaka in 1903, the Takushoku Exposition held in Tokyo and Osaka in 1912 and 13, and the National Defense Exposition held in various places since the 1930s. On the occasion of the Expo being held in Kansai and 80 years after the war, we will ask again what an exposition was.
