Mei Semones (Mei Simones)
Mei Semones (Mei Simones), who is from Ann Arbor, Michigan and has a Japanese mother, has been playing music since she was a child. He started playing piano at age 4 and switched to electric guitar at age 11. After playing jazz guitar in high school, I learned guitar playing with a focus on jazz at Berklee College of Music. He released several singles and EPs, and moved to New York in 2022. Also, Mei and her band collaborated with post-Bossa ballad singer John Roseboro and went on their first tour with Melodic Rock Outfit Raavi. While working as a Japanese kindergarten teacher, she also continued writing songs (note, the lyrics are written in both English and Japanese). The EP “Kabutomushi” will be released in the spring of 2024. It was selected as “Artist You Need to Know” by Rolling Stone and “Best of What's Next” by Paste, and attracted attention, such as Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers receiving rave reviews, and performed in Japan. The 1st full album “Animaru” was released in 2025/5/5.
