A TOP collection exhibition commemorating the 30th anniversary of the general opening of the Tokyo Metropolitan Prefecture Photographic Art Museum. The museum's collection is selected from multiple perspectives in an omnibus format jointly planned by 4 curators, and the appeal of photography and video is introduced. “Physical” in the title “transphysical” has the meaning of “material” and “physical,” and focuses on the “materialism” of photographs that exist as objects and the “physical expression” of the subject and the artist himself. Furthermore, the prefix “trance” indicates a process or act in which an object moves from itself to another form or position. In the milestone year of the 30th anniversary, we will introduce new ways to decipher the works in the collection so far, and look at the rich process of creating images. The museum's masterpieces throw a brilliant stone into the current state of photography and video where digitalization is progressing.
