A Yuntaku Association that digs deep into the history of Naha city. It's not a hard lecture, you can break down the conversation and ask questions on the spot if you don't understand anything you don't understand. (Once a month 14:00-17:00)
The current Yuntaku lecturer is Satoshi Ohama of the Okinawa International University Minamishima Cultural Institute, who was born on Ishigaki Island in 1948 and served as NHK director before returning to mainland Okinawa.
The road that was a prefectural road leading to Shuri before the war became “Kokusai St.” after the war, and it became the main street representing Okinawa, crowded with buses. Department stores such as Mitsukoshi, Yamagataya, and Ryubo were lined up, and it was not only a center of economic activity, but also a place for civic demonstrations, and it was also a road where people came into contact with culture such as turnip scout parades, Olympic torches, flag heads, and movie theaters. I'm going to dig deeper into such stories and stories like this on Kokusai Street.
