Lecturer: Futenma Asaka (Director, Himeyuri Peace Museum)

Eighty years after the war, people who experienced war died one after another, making it difficult to hear war experiences directly from those who experienced it. After there are no people who have experienced it, how to pass on war experiences has become a social issue. Introducing the Himeyuri Museum's efforts to continue conveying the war experiences of Himeyuri students. Share the reality of the Battle of Okinawa and think about how to connect peace to the next generation.

Futenma Asaka (Futenma Chokei) profile
Born in Okinawa Prefecture in 1959. The Himeyuri Alumni Association was established, and he has worked since opening in 1989 at the museum, which has been run mainly by former Himeyuri students. They work together with students for many years and work on succession to the next generation. In 2018, he became the first post-war curator. Exhibitions and projects are planned and carried out from the perspective of people who have not experienced it.
