“Fuji Student Corps” (Director: Takeya Nomura/Kaiensha, 2012/48 minutes)
Most of the female student corps mobilized in the Battle of Okinawa were killed in action. Meanwhile, only 3 people were killed in action by the “Fuji Gakuden Corps.” A first-year student at Shakutoku High School for Girls wearing a loofah collar uniform in 1941. However, they never once wore the sailor uniform they admired.
“Passing on, Inheriting Tomigusuku's War Memories”
Year by year, fewer people have experienced war, and inheriting memories of the Battle of Okinawa has become an issue. In Tomigusuku City, stories of people who experienced the war were recorded on video over 2 years in an attempt to tell the generation that didn't know about the war in their hometown, the Battle of Okinawa. Before, during, and after the war. Through the stories of people who experienced war, what was the war at Tomigusuku like? I will look back with the testimonies of 31 people.
