This exhibition mainly introduces works by artists from or related to Okinawa and contemporary art works from Asian countries. You can experience a variety of Okinawan art, such as oil paintings, watercolors, sculptures, prints, photographs, and videos, nurtured by the Okinawan climate.

Collection Gallery 2: Okinawan Sculptures
After the war, figures were the mainstream in modern Okinawan sculpture. After that, many leaders visited from outside the prefecture, and not only portraits but also abstract shapes were created, and various three-dimensional works were introduced, such as outdoor exhibitions and artists with roots in Okinawa. This exhibition focuses on modern post-war Okinawan sculpture under the title “Okinawan Sculptures” from the three-dimensional works in the Okinawa Prefectural Museum and Art Museum's collection.

Collection Gallery 3: The Flow of Okinawan Art
Okinawa has a unique culture nurtured by its history and climate, and Okinawan art has also been cultivated while being greatly influenced by the times, positions, and circumstances. In this exhibition, modern and contemporary Okinawan art works are traced along with their transitions. At Collection Gallery 3, you can listen to an audio guide on “The Flow of Okinawan Art” on your smartphone. (Narrator: Okinawa Prefectural Naha International High School Broadcasting Division)
