The Ryukyu Islands are isolated from the surrounding area by the sea, and have a unique history and culture. Currently, details of the human population formation history on each island in the Ryukyu Islands are being clarified by accumulating genomic data. However, there are many unexplained genetic connections between groups from the past to the present, and further analysis of ancient human bone genomes is awaited. In this course, we will talk about human history in Okinawa deciphered from genomic analysis, and new perspectives on archaeological research brought about by detailed elucidation of human migration and cultural transmission.
