The Battle of Okinawa was not the only stage around the main island of Okinawa. The special attack against Okinawa was also part of the Battle of Okinawa. The special attack operation was based on Okinawa information conveyed from the Okinawa Area Base Force Headquarters and the 32nd Army Command, and was developed around the Combined Fleet Command in Kanagawa Prefecture and the Fifth Air Fleet Command in Kagoshima Prefecture. These headquarters bunkers were connected to each other by telegraph. Here, we try to expand the narrative of the Battle of Okinawa by connecting ground operations and special attack operations, which tend to be talked about separately, in underground bunkers.
