Give it to the exhibition
The work used for the announcement is an F40 oil painting made around the summer of 2023. Similar to the title of the exhibition, I named it “Light and Shadow.” I've been living a life away from production and presenting my work for the past 10 years, but when I was thinking about what I had left to do and my regrets due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I thought “I have to draw pictures and present them.” As soon as I finished this work, I started moving towards this solo exhibition, so it was a turning point for me, and it is also a work that gave me confidence in drawing. Afternoon light, flower pot, bougainvillea falling to the ground. It becomes such a beautiful world just by depicting the phenomenon that such casual everyday scenes are exposed to light and shadows are formed. I was originally fond of drawing, so after all, I thought drawing motifs, following light and shadow, and turning them into pictures would suit my gender. In this solo exhibition, I will be exhibiting about 30 works, mainly recent oil paintings. The reflection of light, the shape of shadows, the transition of surfaces, the thickness of things. These are works that focus on such things and draw familiar objects as motifs.
