“Smart City/Circular Design Initiatives”
Taiwan and Okinawa have been closely linked economically and culturally since ancient times, but in addition to conventional cooperation from a business and tourism perspective, discussions aimed at realizing a sustainable society, such as a recycling-oriented society, have also begun. In this session, we invited Vivian Wu, the Industry Foresight Section team leader of the Taiwan Institute of Design and Research (TDRI), and Hayashi Yutatsu, who is in charge of the urban informatics department at “City Science Lab @Taipei Tech x MIT,” to introduce the value that TDRI has created through circular design in collaboration with the region and innovative urban development based on city data analysis I'll do it. We will examine new possibilities to tackle social issues from a design perspective through the development of urban design ability indicators, etc. that TDRI is working on.

“Civic Tech Summit Okinawa 2024 Local Communities x Disaster Prevention x Civic Tech”
“When it's new, something starts!” Based on this concept, it is an event where groups and individuals involved in civic tech activities in Okinawa gather in one place. We will hold a meetup where you can exchange information on a wide range of topics, from sharing issues with civic tech activities, reporting on activities, and discussing concerns about community management. A wide range of people can participate, from those who want to hear and learn about Civic Tech to those who are active. This year, with the theme of “local community x disaster prevention x civic tech,” what can Civic Tech do about “wisdom to protect the community” together with experts and practitioners? Think of them as participants.

“Key to Regional Revitalization: Challenging Okinawa's Labor Population Decline by Utilizing Robot Technology”
The Okinawa Open Laboratory held the “Okinawa Robo DX Forum” in August, and discussions were held with businesses and companies promoting the introduction and use of robots in the prefecture. On the day of the event, lively opinions were exchanged on the current state of the robot business in Okinawa Prefecture and solutions to the declining labor population, and exciting discussions unfolded. As a sequel to this OOD2024, engineers involved in the development of robot control technology utilizing generative AI, experts in robot introduction/utilization support, and DX promotion personnel from user companies will be invited as panelists to jointly examine specific strategies on how robot technology complements labor shortages and supports sustainable development of regional economies. We will also delve into the possibilities of technology that supports regional revitalization and the impact of its introduction.
