On 2024/10/6, to coincide with the launch of handmade fireworks on Achi Murakami Kiyonai Road, the Ryukyu Kingdom karakuri fireworks “Ssangyong,” equipped with jet fireworks manufactured by the Kamikiyonai Road Fireworks Association, were shown. The original brilliance that King Ryukyu saw here about 200 years ago has been revived by ancient Japanese fires conveyed by Seinai Road.
Images of “handmade fireworks in Kiyochiji Village,” which are intangible cultural properties of Nagano Prefecture, and “karakuri fireworks” in Ryukyu, which were restored and shown at the “handmade fireworks dedication” at Kamikiyonaiji Suwa Shrine, will be screened. Learn the characteristics of both fireworks, which have different cultural and historical meanings. Through contrasts, etc., we explore the characteristics of fireworks culture in southern Shinshu, starting with handmade fireworks on Seinai-ji Road.
