The 43rd special exhibition “Zumi!” currently being held at the Miyakojima City Comprehensive Museum An event related to the “Miyako Endemic Species Exhibition - The Mysteries of Endemic Species I'm Here for a Cause”. In Miyako, there are “endemic species,” which are creatures found only in Miyako in the world, but it is known that there are species of cockroaches found only in Miyako. In particular, the beautiful cockroach called the red cockroach was announced as a new species in 2021 and became a hot topic. We invite Shizuma Yanagisawa, who is the godfather of the red cockroach and is investigating and researching cockroaches, to Miyako to listen to stories about cockroach research and cockroaches in Miyako.
