“War Clouds -Ikusafumu-”

What is real “national defense”?
Okinawan voices aren't the only ones being crushed

Okinawa Main Island, Yonaguni Island, Miyako Island, Ishigaki Island, and Amami Oshima Island — these beautiful islands are undergoing rapid military fortification under the leadership of both the Japanese and US governments. Deployment of Self-Defense Force missile forces, major expansion of ammunition depots, underground base, and evacuation plans for all islanders... In 2022, from the large-scale Japan-US joint military exercise “Keen Sword 23,” which assumed a “Taiwan emergency,” and the contents of the three security documents, a defense plan with the Nansei Islands as the main battlefield from Kyushu and effectively prepared for the sacrifice of local people was revealed. However, there are few media that decipher and report on the true horror. How many Japanese people know that airports and harbors around the country are being turned into military bases and logistics bases. What is the real “national defense”? Okinawan voices aren't the only ones being crushed.

“Target Village” and “Okinawa Spy Battle History” directed by Chie Mikami
Genshin's latest work after 6 years

This film is the latest full-body report by filmmaker and journalist Chie Mikami, who has been touring Okinawa and the Nansei Islands for 8 years from 2015. The title comes from the lyrics of Ishigakijima's lyric poem Toubarama where Setsuko Yamazato sings, “I'm so scared that I can't sleep,” by Setsuko Yamazato. The film shows not only the impending threat of war. The lives and festivals of people nurtured by a harsh history and rich nature — these are irreplaceable things that are about to be overrun right now under the name of “deterrent power” in false words, and they are nothing but a source of hope and prayer for us.
