A documentary by Mikami Chie, director of “Target Village” and “Okinawa Spy Battle History,” depicts the current state of rapid military fortification in the Nansei Islands such as Okinawa, and lifestyle and festivals on the islands. Under the leadership of both the Japanese and US governments, rapid military deployment is underway, such as the deployment of Self-Defense Forces missile forces, major expansion of ammunition depots, and evacuation plans for all islanders. In 2022, a defense plan with the Nansei Islands as the main battlefield from Kyushu was revealed from the contents of the Japan-US joint military exercise “Keen Sword 23,” which assumes an emergency in Taiwan, and the three security documents. Director Mikami continues to cover the Okinawa main island, Yonaguni Island, Miyako Island, Ishigaki Island, Amami Oshima Island, etc. for 8 years from 2015, and in addition to sounding the alarm about the impending threat of war, he vividly projects the irreplaceable lifestyle and festivals of the islanders nurtured by harsh history and rich nature.
