The Okinawa Hotel Culture Salon begins with the Sanshin Day newspaper.
Biwa is said to have roots in ancient Persia, but it is not established in Okinawa, and is played only by Ryukyu Gozagaku. This time, we will listen to and compare the sounds of Chikuzen biwa, which is said to have “elegance and gentleness” among the five types of biwa in Japan, and the Sanshin (Three-string guitar) of Okinawa. Also, Eriko Kodama, a full-time lecturer at Kyoto University of the Arts, talks about Ryukyu music and performing arts.
