An exhibition of works by Miyagi Kiyoshi, a lacquer artist from Yagi, Nakagusuku Village, who was certified as the holder of Okinawa Prefecture Intangible Cultural Property (Ryukyu lacquerware) in 2018. For many years, they have conducted research on the history and techniques of Ryukyu lacquerware, elucidated the “method of boiling snails” and “shellfish techniques” described in Kaizuri magistrate's office documents, and produced various lacquerware works based on that research. In this exhibition, we will introduce Miyagi Kiyoshi's exploration style and restored techniques and tools, as well as introduce the history of Ryukyu lacquerware.
