More than 120 years have passed since many people from Okinawa went to the world aiming to fly overseas. A screening where you can watch documentary films of Japanese Americans active in Argentinian society and deepen your understanding of Japanese American communities and immigration phenomena overseas through fun meetings with Japanese Americans.
Work introduction
It is said that there were as many as 30,000 victims (enforced disappearances) who were the target of repression during the military administration in Argentina. Among them, there were people of Japanese descent with roots in Okinawa and Japan. This fact has been “silenced” for a long time in the Japanese community in Argentina. Why has it been “silent”? Various aspects of the Japanese community and Argentine society can be seen from the feelings of families who have lived without talking about victims, and the way of life of people who have immigrated and the 2nd and 3rd generation people.
